Only Maldives is the hospitality arm of the Maldives’ largest air fleet operator—a brand created to reimagine the travel experience from touchdown to takeoff. Conceived by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the goal was to build a premium yet approachable tourism brand offering curated hotel, flight, and adventure packages tailored to every kind of traveler. For Lazy Eight, it marked our first project in the Maldives—and a chance to help shape the country’s next wave of experience-driven tourism.

This was a zero-to-one launch embedded inside an enterprise. TMA brought us in at inception, tasking us with developing the brand from scratch: naming, identity, visual language, print systems, digital strategy, and platform design. The ambition was clear—create a standalone brand that could complement the national carrier while resonating with global travelers seeking ease, beauty, and memory-making moments.

The design system channels island ease through modern restraint. We crafted a breezy, minimal aesthetic—muted tropical tones, rounded typography, soft animations, and clean layouts that reflect the gentle rhythm of seaplanes, waves, and laid-back luxury. The interface design was one of our most involved: a robust booking portal that lets users explore trip types, compare curated packages, and make decisions effortlessly.

Only Maldives now exists as both a brand and a promise. It connects air, land, and sea under one intuitive, unified experience. From cabin cards to content strategy, every touchpoint was designed to feel welcoming, light, and deeply Maldivian. For Lazy Eight, it’s a proud proof point of how thoughtful creative and user-first design can help launch a national tourism brand with global charm.
